1 John 1:10 says, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Ouch! That hurts! If I say I’m a saint, that’s what Paul calls us and someone who is holy certainly isn’t a sinner, then I make Jesus out to be a liar. If I say I am a sinner, then I make Jesus out to be the truth, which is what He is, but I don’t like calling myself a sinner. No one, absolutely no one wants to be called a sinner. Even the worst sinners in the world can find really good excuses for why they did what they did.
I give a workshop called “Uprooting Buried Lies”. Because of my past I asked the Lord for help with my interior chaos and He said, “It’s not what happened to you that brought chaos into your life, it’s what you have believed about yourself that has twisted your life.” When bad things happen, Satan is there to plant lies. So God gave me a prayer process to identify one lie at a time and with His help to find the root cause. The next step is to ask Him for His truth and for Him to verify that truth with two Scriptures. Then I ask Him to rip out the lie and plant the truth. This process has changed my life.
Eventually the Lord asked me to write a book about it, so I wrote a novel called Buried Lies. When people read the book they asked for a workshop so I could lead them through the prayer process. My first process lasted seven hours, so I could see the efficiency in being led through the first time. Then they asked for a workbook so they could continue to get rid of lies on their own. I wrote Uprooting Buried Lies.
The only weapon Satan has to use against us is a lie. It amazed me to see how much I wanted to hang onto my lies, how I wanted to go off and pout and say “You just don’t know what she, or he, did to me!” There are many, like myself, who insist that the birth family was in the wrong and he or she was an innocent victim. Okay. So we came from a bad family. It happens. The only person we are responsible for is ourselves. What kind of a person are we going to be? Who is going to lead our lives? These lies about ourselves that we’ve believed from our birth family, are we going to let them lead our lives? Let me give you a few very light examples: “Your eyes are set too close together.” “You can’t run. You’re knock-kneed.” “When God passed out brains He forgot you.” “You’ll never amount to anything.” “You’ll always be poor.” “You are a big slob. Nobody’s going to want to marry you.” “Hey worthless. That’s what you are you know. You’re good for nothing.”
What does the Bible say about you? - You are God’s beloved. You are perfect and wonderfully made. You are the blessed of the Lord. The blessing of the Lord makes one rich and He adds no sorrow to it. You have the mind of Christ and you know all things. You are beautiful, or handsome, to look upon. You can do all things through Christ. God has high hopes in you. The Holy Spirit sanctifies you and makes your way perfect. The Lord sends His children out two by two. - So who are you going to believe? The truth of God or the lies of the devil? Dig out those lies and plant God’s truth. Put His Word in you because that’s the truth!
Writing has been in my blood, so to speak, but when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and He told me to write, all my trepidations rolled away and I began in earnest! After all, if God Almighty says it was His idea that I be a writer, who am I to stand in His way? My hope is that you not only like what I write, but that your life is moved by it, and that your party to Jesus and with Jesus turns your life into days of Heaven on Earth.
