Pastor Craig G. says “I will not let what I want rob me of what I have.” There is so much to give thanks for! When I look at what I have, I see so much for which I am grateful. When I look at what I want, I see so much for which I can be depressed. My list is long! It goes all the way from please give me curly hair to being a millionaire. I really want everything on my list. But my leaning on my list causes me to miss the very cherished moments of what I have.
Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of desire, (Ecclesiastes 6:9).
Better is what we have than what we hope for. I’m not saying don’t hope for more. Never. I’m saying don’t let what we hope for ruin what we have. Be appreciative. Be full of joy, full of peace. Enjoy what we have been given. It’s God’s will for us. Be appreciative of what He has already given us and we will find it is exactly enough for this moment in time. What we lack is nothing. What we have is something. When we express our thanksgiving to God, more will be opened for us.
