If we want to live a blessed life, then we have to live to be a blessing. We keep saying, “Make me into the image of Jesus Christ!” But do we mean it? What did Jesus do for us? He died for us. He defeated Satan for us. He rose again for us. He ascended into heaven for us. Without His generosity we would have no forgiveness of our sins, no new birth, no new spirit, no spiritual guidance to help with our lives, no reconciliation with God our Father, no eternal life with God, which started at our new birth; we would have nothing that separates us from the world. We would have their guilt, their troubled soul, their lack of spiritual life, their lifeless relationship with God our Father, and their destiny of going to hell for eternity. Instead we have God our Father, Jesus our Lord, and their Holy Spirit, our best friend, living inside of us, living our lives with us.
If we are made into His image, what do we give? Isn’t paying a visit to the widow, who seldom has a caller, a gift? How about the few quarters we throw into the Salvation Army buckets? He sees all that and welcomes our gifts. But maybe we could contemplate more extravagant giving, not our lives, like Jesus did, but maybe like giving someone a car. That’s pretty extravagant giving for most of us! In comparison to our lives, a car isn’t much.
God rejoices when He sees His children sharing what they have with others. What does He see you giving?
