And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:13). One summer in my university days, I worked in a warehouse that had a complaint box. None of the employees ever put anything in that box, but they stood around all day complaining about the job. So, bright-eyed me wrote up their complaints, one by one, and put them in that box. Then I understood why they didn’t do that. Management called me into the upper offices, and it was not to give me a promotion. Now that I’m a Christian I understand the example this gave me. God does not have a complaint box. He doesn’t need one because His ear hears everything, and not a single complaint goes unnoticed! Our world can be compared to a warehouse. Everything we need is here. We spend our time receiving, organizing, and shipping. So where do we get the idea we should complain about this?
Shouldn’t we, instead, be in a constant state of gratitude? According to the Word of God, and we believe the Word of God—which is, after all, truer than any testament known to mankind—God has given us not only the things we need, but also the things we desire. Jesus paid for it all on the cross with His blood! It’s done! Of whom are we complaining if we don’t have what we need or desire? Not God! He’s done His part! He has already given. We’re complaining about ourselves! I hate to point out our stupidity, but let’s call it what it is! Gratitude opens the doors to receive. Gratitude unlocks feelings of happiness and joy. Gratitude says “thank you” even though the things have not yet arrived. Gratitude blesses God! He to Whom all things are naked, what kind of gratitude is He receiving from us? Is it gratitude, or is it complaining? Our gratitude will change everything!
