And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:13). If we have a God who is made out of love, it only stands to reason that He wants some time to pour out His love on us. I don’t know about you, but I get so caught up in how I am going to love Him, that I forget all about His love for me. I’m doing my best to do what is right, to be the kind of person He wants me to be; you know what I’m talking about—loving the unlovable, forgiving the impossible, sharing with the needy. But what about Him? I have learned that He loves to put His arms around me. I discovered that when He asked if He could rock me to sleep when I was suffering from my lack of self-worth. Another time I had an itch in the middle of my back, a terrible itch, and I couldn’t reach it well enough to scratch it heartily. Since I knew He puts His arms around me from time to time, I asked Him to scratch my back. And He did. Only He scratched it from the inside. He watches every movie I watch and often puts His arm around my shoulders.
You think God is too busy for this kind of silly stuff? This is exactly why He made us, so that He could have us to love. Isn’t that why we have children? To have someone to love? Since He sees all things, how often does He see you stopping everything you’re doing in order to receive His love fully, to let Him fill you up and murmur sweet things in your ears? He’s waiting.
