And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account (Hebrews 4:13). If we honestly got out of bed in the morning in a constant state of gratitude for every good thing in life, and we took the time to put that gratitude into words, we would not get anything else done. There is so much to be thankful for. In this world there is far more good than evil, yet the evil seems to capture so much of our attention, and therefore, we have so much complaining. Did you know that God hates complaining? When the Israelites were wandering in the desert and they complained loudly about their conditions, He sent snakes into their living quarters. Snakes! That’s what God thinks about complaining. I can’t help but think of that Christmas song: “. . . He sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. He knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake.” One way you can be good is to stop complaining! Just shut your mouth when you feel a complaint coming on. He will reward you for it. Remember, He sees everything.
