And there is not a created thing not manifest before Him, but all things are naked and open to His eyes—with whom is our reckoning (Hebrews 4:13; Young’s Literal Translation of the Bible). According to my little Oxford dictionary, reckoning means “to make an accounting, to compute, to calculate, to judge, to appraise.” Your day of reckoning with God will come, so it’s best to prepare yourself now. The longer you linger in sin, the heavier will be the burden of payment for your faulty character. If the count is accurate, God has about 20,000 angels assigned to you. They are listening to every word you say, they are watching everything you do, and they are recording it all. Their records are impeccable and irrefutable. How can you defend yourself against such a prosecutor? Fortunately for those of us who take Him up on His offer, the Son of the Judge is our Defender. Before the ruling even came down, He paid the price for our sins. He saw we were a hopeless case, desperately needing His help; in fact, He was the only One with a sinless nature and perfect blood who could help us. So He willingly went to the cross for you and me. He took every sin into His sinless nature, He took every sickness into His pure body, and spilled His perfect blood to seal the Covenant with God Almighty that we would live with Him and under His protection for eternity. Now I’ve had the good sense to recognize that I needed a Savior, so I accepted His offer. I humbled myself and confessed that He is the Lord—not me. He is the Savior of the world—not me. He is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent—and I’m not. I’m at least wise enough to realize that’s the kind of Man I want. And did I tell you about His fee? He wants to be paid in love. Father God, I want Your Son! I want Him to be my Lord! I want Him to save me! You sent Him to bring me home, but not to any kind of home I’ve ever known. He wants to bring me to a Temple of love, a place where the Holy Spirit will live in me. Please grant me Your new birth, and eternity in Your arms. I proclaim Jesus Christ is Lord!
