The Bible in Depth

These studies are meant to direct you to a deeper look into the Scriptures. Open your Bible to the Scriptures I have written out for you and look at the context in which they were written. If other Scriptures are suggested that pertain to the same subject, look them up as well, as these Scriptures will give you a larger picture about the different subjects I have highlighted for you. Remember, the Word is God and God is His Word.

How to Meditate

However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth;; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come (John 16:13).

To me, this short study is one of the most important parts of the Bible. Meditation is asking us to use our imaginations. Wherever your daily reading of the Bible, and I do hope you are reading it daily, imagine yourself as part of the scene you are currently reading.

I first started this way of study when I read about the parting of the Red Sea. I imagined myself as one of the Israelites fleeing from Pharaoh. I realized I wouldn’t just give up and let the soldiers take me back to Egypt as a slave. Today I could easily think of myself as being enslaved because of circumstances in my life, but my life is now in Jesus Christ, and I am only a slave to Him—a love slave by choice!

Then I imagined myself as one of the soldiers chasing after the Israelites. I realized I could take off on my horse, charging after the Israelites in order to join them. As this character, I knew the Israelites were right, but tradition and family kept me bound. My family today would like for me to be bound. We have ancestors who have resisted Christ. What should I do? Abandon Jesus? Or abandon my family? The answer was obvious.

Then I imagined myself as part of the water that stood up and gave passage to the Israelites. As that water, I was proud to be a part of God’s planning. I realized the role nature plays in accomplishing God’s goals.

And so on.

Now, I pretty much stick to the New Testament. I have applied sicknesses that want to attack me to the Scripture:

…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24).

As the saying goes: if I was healed, then I am healed. What does that look like? If I am sick, yet the Bible says I’m healed, what do I look like?

Enjoy the Bible. It’s full of wisdom, truth, and hope.

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— (1 Corinthians 1:30).

This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success (Joshua 1:8).

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom… (Colossians 3:16).

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you (John 15:7).

Writing has been in my blood, so to speak, but when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and He told me to write, all my trepidations rolled away and I began in earnest! After all, if God Almighty says it was His idea that I be a writer, who am I to stand in His way? My hope is that you not only like what I write, but that your life is moved by it, and that your party to Jesus and with Jesus turns your life into days of Heaven on Earth.
