But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him (1 John 2:27).
The word anointing means “to be smeared with oil,” like on the forehead, and the oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The moment you were born again, when you surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit came to live inside of you, and therefore you have received the anointing. Because you have the genius of the universe living inside of you, you do know all things, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. Unfortunately, most of us are so hard-headed we won’t listen to the genius who lives inside us, who would make us look incredibly intelligent if we’d let Him. We’d rather tell Him how things are instead of listening to pure wisdom! What He has to say is NEVER a lie. What we have to say is USUALLY a lie because we don’t have all the facts. Notice the Scripture says he teaches us concerning all things. How many things? ALL!!

These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you (1 John 2:26).
Them that seduce you. . . . That’s a loaded phrase! Who doesn’t try to seduce you would be simpler to address, because these days most people are out for themselves, and they’ll use you to get whatever they want! Unfortunately, seduction is mostly subtle, mainly because the seductor doesn’t want to be obvious and therefore probably be rejected. There are five main religions on the earth: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and New Age. All of these use seduction in one form or another to draw people into their “club.” That’s what most religious meeting places are—Social Clubs. Not that I find anything wrong with that. The church I grew up in was more of a social club than even a country club could be, but I enjoyed the ambiance, the fun and games. I told my friends repeatedly that my church was the best, even though I had no idea what religion I was. Then I discovered I didn’t have a religion at all. That was after I made my commitment to a profound relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no way one can seduce someone to such a bond with Him because to know Jesus is to fall madly in love with Him, and nothing sleazy could draw you to Jesus or Him to you. Like the Bible says, come and see for yourself, taste and see that the Lord is good. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life (1 John 2:25).
For the most magnificent promise that God could give, that short little phrase hardly expresses it—eternal life. That life actually began the moment we accepted Jesus as our Lord. It’s called in other places, zoe life. The word zoe means “the life of God.” That’s His magnificent promise! For accepting Jesus, His Son, for surrendering our lives for the life of His Son, He then gives us His life! All humanity will live forever. A spirit doesn’t die, and we are spirits. We simply have souls and bodies as tools to use on the earth. After death, there are only two places prepared for spirits to go: heaven and hell. Those who choose hell, and they select it by default when they do not receive Jesus, will live forever in torture and pain. Satan is in charge down there, and he hates humanity! Therefore, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father (1 John 2:24).
What did we hear from the beginning? John, who wrote the Gospel of John, the three little books of John, and the book of Revelation could easily point to the first sentence of his writings: John 1:1— In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. If we follow on down, John further explains in verse 14: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. God divided Jesus out of Himself. Before the world was, Jesus was. He came out of God. His role is that of the Word. God speaks and Jesus manages what He said. Out of His management we have the Bible. The Holy Spirit also came out of God. His role is to wield the power in and for our lives. These three are one, they always agree, and they are never separate, always together. |
