And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life (1 John 2:25). For the most magnificent promise that God could give, that short little phrase hardly expresses it—eternal life. That life actually began the moment we accepted Jesus as our Lord. It’s called in other places, zoe life. The word zoe means “the life of God.” That’s His magnificent promise! For accepting Jesus, His Son, for surrendering our lives for the life of His Son, He then gives us His life! All humanity will live forever. A spirit doesn’t die, and we are spirits. We simply have souls and bodies as tools to use on the earth. After death, there are only two places prepared for spirits to go: heaven and hell. Those who choose hell, and they select it by default when they do not receive Jesus, will live forever in torture and pain. Satan is in charge down there, and he hates humanity! But by choosing Jesus, we choose heaven, and God is so eager for us to be living with Him that He makes our eternal life start the minute we receive Jesus. Truthfully, the ones who choose hell have already been living there. Once we all pass through puberty, our eternal choices begin. If someone were fortunate enough to choose Jesus before that time, they are already living in heaven on earth. But those who haven’t chosen are automatically designated for hell, and their bad choices begin, which sinks them deeper and deeper into the mire.
So give yourselves the biggest break in eternity—choose Jesus!
