Bible Study #41

​Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (1 John 3:1).
 
It’s odd to think of myself as being from a different planet (heaven) with a different Father (God) and a different teacher (the Holy Spirit) and a most unusual fiancé (Jesus). Heaven is a perfect place. Earth may have started out in a perfect state, but it has continuously fallen from grace until now it is in a free-fall to doom!
 
My perfect Father, God, loves me constantly. He never withholds His love until I perform correctly the task He desires. In fact, if I never perform that task, He will still love me. My natural father, when I was a child, made me sweep the kitchen twenty-four times one evening, until I got it right. He stood in the door shouting commands, and when he was content with my work, he stormed away furious that I’d wasted so much of his time. Thank God for my perfect Father!
 

​The Holy Spirit will never teach by telling me how stupid I am. He is the perpetual encourager. He blesses me so much with His love and approval that I WANT to please Him. I WANT to have the knowledge He is teaching me. I WANT to say what He wants me to say. I WANT to do what He is teaching me to do. I WANT to be the person He is training me to be.
 
As for Jesus— my fiancé, my Lord, the Captain of my heart—how can I not love Him? He died for me! No one has ever come close to a sacrifice like that one! I stand before Him in awe—my Savior, my Lord, my Prince, my King, the Head of the heavenly army, the Word of God!
 
So if the world doesn’t know me because they don’t know my Father, then they don’t know what they’re missing! I’m a child of the Most-High God! He calls me His child! And He has promised me to His Son, Jesus Christ. I can hardly wait for heaven! But the truth is, I’m already living there!
